What Is Accreditation?
Accreditation is a process of evaluating and validating colleges and universities. This process takes place within a peer review board, which may include faculty from other accredited schools, members of various professional organizations and those serving on government commissions. To determine whether a college or university is worthy of accreditation, the review board will evaluate a university based on certain criteria. Accreditation criteria may include the universitys overall mission, its short- and long-term goals and its student admission requirements. The board also looks at the overall quality of education provided by the university and the reputation and prominence of its faculty.

University/College Towns vs. Megalopolises: What to Choose?

University/College Towns vs. Megalopolises: What to Choose?

If you have two options: to study at the university in some megalopolis or in a university/college town it can be quite challenging to make the right choice. However, if all the rest of criteria are equal this point can be decisive. What to choose a megalopolis or a university/college town. What is the big difference? 1. Well, of course, one of the first differences to be mentioned is the size. University/college towns are quite small, and, actually, this is one of their advantages: everything is quite close at hand. 2. In university/college towns there are not many cars: everyone goes on foot or ride bicycles. In megalopolises you may face the problems of traffic jams. Of course, you will live on campus, but you will still need to leave this safe place and plunge into the crazy world of a big city. 3. Megalopolises are very noisy, so it can be difficult to concentrate on your study.

On the contrary, the atmosphere in university/college towns inspires to study. 4. In the majority of cases, the life in megalopolises is quite expensive, and in university/college towns prices are very reasonable. Well, students do not have much money to waste! 5. There are so many temptations in megalopolises: restaurants, nightclubs, bars, even casinos (in some places). Well, university/college towns may only have various restaurants of different cuisines (with very reasonable prices) and, maybe, some pubs. 6. It can be also mentioned that university/college towns are quiet, and the number of crimes is quite insignificant. Well, megalopolises boast of such situation. 7. However, if your study can be associated with visiting cultural centers like museums, art galleries, etc., megalopolises have many such opportunities. Of course, it is up to you what place to choose. You can consider these points and decide what you really need during your student life.
